What Supermemory is
Supermemory describes itself as a memory API and context layer for AI applications, ingesting documents and conversations and retrieving relevant context, with connectors and an MCP option.
What Auld is
Auld is a memory service. Your systems send time-stamped records; Auld extracts memories, reconciles changes into current state with history, and returns cited memories scoped to the viewer, over REST or MCP.
Differences in design
| Dimension | Supermemory | Auld |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Memory and context retrieval over content and conversations | Dated, sourced memory with supersession and scoping |
| Changing facts | Check current docs | Supersession with kept history |
| Point in time | Check current docs | asOf |
| Scoping | Check current docs | Identities, audiences, visibility |
| Deployment | Hosted; see docs for self-hosting | Managed, or own cloud under Enterprise |
How to choose
Choose Supermemory when
- Your main need is retrieval over a growing personal or team content library.
- Its connectors match your sources.
Choose Auld when
- You need explicit current-vs-past state and citations.
- Visibility rules are central to your product.
Evaluate and verify
Trade-offs depend on your data. Run the same test set against each option — the methodology page has a checklist — and confirm current capabilities in the official documentation.
